BROWNSVILLE-Mayor Eddie Trevino, Jr., wants to raise at least $161,000 for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Trevino is asking that eveI)' resident of Brownsville contribute at least $1 to this effort. A special account has been opened at First National Rank and all contributions should be dedicated to the "City of Brownsville Hurricane Katrina Emergency Relief Fund."

First National Bank has four locations in and around the city: 701 E. Levee Street, at Price Road and Old Port Isabe1 Road, on Morrison Road next to Academy and on the north bound Expressway Frontage Road in Olmito.

"This money," says Trevino, "will be distributed among various charitable groups and will absolutely be used to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the areas hardest hit by that storm."

Anyone or any group wishing to contribute to this fund is asked to visit one ofthe four First National Bank locations and do so.

"We are hopeful of raising more than $161,000," adds Trevino, "so contributions of more than $1 will gladly be accepted and much appreciated by those who are so in need of our help.

"We are seeking cash because it will be easily distributed among the charities involved in the Hurricane Katrina relief effort:' says Trevino.

"Brownsville was spared by Hurricane Emily," continues Trevino, "but the fact remains that we could have been victims of a disaster similar to that caused by Hurricane Katrina. That is why it's important for us to be compassionate and generolis to those less fortunate."
